The Attorney General, Hon. H. G. R. Mason, announced yesterday that, owing to the fact that Mr. Justice Johnston was likely to be engaged for some time further in the work of the Court of Review, under the Mortgagors and Lessees’ Rehabilitation Act, the Government had asked Mr. Justice Reed to continue as temporary Judge of Supreme Court pending time when Mr. Justice Johnston would be able to resume to ordinary duties. It was understood that Mr. Justice Reed would agree to the request. He was, however, retiring from the Presidency of the Prisons Board, and the vacancy would be required to be filled by the appointment of the Supreme Court Judge to the position, ft had been suggested unofficially that Mr. Justice Ostler should succeed Mr. Justice Reed as President of the Prisons Board.-— Press Assn.
