The vacancy caused by the appointment of Mr J. M. Park, formerly Deputy-Commissioner of Taxes, to the position of Commissioner, has been filled by the appointment of Mr E. S. Smith, Crown solicitor in Wellington. Mr Smith, who was born in Auckland in 1901, was appointed Crown solicitor in Wellington last year.
