HON. R. SEMPLE
Return to N.Z. LEAVING SYDNEY TO-MORROW WEEK. [Aust. & N.Z. Cable Assn.l WELLINGTON, August 18. ■ Advice that the Minister of Public Works and Transport, Hon. R. Semple, is leaving Sydney on August 27 on his return to New Zealand, has been received by the Prime Minister, Mr. Savage. For the past five weeks, Mr. Semple has been recuperating in Australia. At the same time he has taken the opportunity to investigate irrigation and electrical power undertakings, and also transport developments in the Commonwealth. QUEENSLAND VISIT. SYDNEY, August IS. Mr Semple, speaking at Cairns, said: “I am more than ever convinced that the time is ripe for a review of trade relations between Australia and New Zealand. When I return to New Zealand, I intend to advise my Government to open negotiations with the Commonwealth. It is absurd to have trade barriers between sister Dominions.”
