BEEF DEARER

ADDINGTON MARKET Pigs Sell Well (Our Own Correspondent). CHRISTCHURCH, August 18. At Addington Market, to-day, the fat cattle entry numbered 435. The quality was indifferent, although some very fine pens of heifers were included. There was an excellent sale for all classes, well-finished steers and heifers selling particularly well, the scarcity of prime steers and heifers on offer possibly indicating a shortage at the present time. Ewes, although easier than at the National market, sold much better in comparison than did wethers. Lighter wethers were in fair supply, and sold very reasonaoly, probably due to feed shortage. Wethers sold up to 48s 7d, and ewes to 40s 7d.

In the fat pigs section, the pork entry was medium in size. . There was an exceedingly good sale in all classes, particularly heavy weights. Choppers were in heavy supply, out had a good sale.
