Mr Justice van Devanter, a former member of the so-called Conservative Wing of the United States Supreme Court, who announced his retirement on May IS, said in an interview with the British United Press that he did not predict any further change in the size of the Supreme Court. He said the present bench of ninejustices should continue, since it ensured stability. “Considering the outcome of the recent attempt, to increase the number,” he added, “I hope there will be no further effort to change it.”
