MOTORIST’S CONVICTION. REFUSAL OF HABEAS CORPUS. I Per Press Association]. INVERCARGILL, August 17. The application for a writ of habeas corpus, made by Mr. G. J. Reed, to quash the conviction for negligent driving of Eric Clarence Taylor, heard in the Supreme Court yesterday, was disallowed, and costs, £7 7s, were given against the applicant. Mr. Justice Kennedy, in his reserved decision, held that the proceedings from start to. finish were within the jurisdiction of the Magistrate.
