WINTER WOOL SALE

AT CHRISTCHURCH. CHRISTCHURCH, August 17. Crossbreds and three-quarterbreds sold well, but medium and fine halfbreds were disappointing, at the Christchurch Winter Wool Sale today. All of the main buying points except Japan and the United States, were represented and competition was steady throughout the sale al rates that were early established. The catalogue comprised 2563 balo r mainly cruchings, but with a small selection of pieces. There was very little wool ,and only odd lots of this were of attractive quality. The bulk of the offering of cruchings was of medium quality, and much of it was attractive. Quite an appreciable amount of good halfbred crutchingt was included.

The best price of the day was 24‘ld paid for two very attractive lots scoured halfbred. Prices for greasy halfbred fleece made to 21d. and Merino to 19ld. Halfbred crutchings made to 15d. and crossbred crutchings to the same price.
