NEW OFFICERS AND CREW. AUCKLAND, August 16. When the New Zealand Shipping Company’s liner Rangitane arrives at Wellington on August 25 from England, she will have among her passengers several Royal Navy officers and 74 Imperial ratings for tb< escort vessel Wellington. The warship is to leave Auckland on Friday afternoon for Wellington to he recommissioned for her second term of service on the New Zealand station since sh< was commissioned by Commander Hall at Devonport in 1935. Commander Loriston-Clarke, who succeeded Commander Hall at the beginning of this year, will remain in command of the Wellington, b-iLieutenant-Comander Alers-Hankey will be relieved by Lieutenant-Com-mander B. H. de C. Mellor, who will be taking up his first appointment on a sea-going ship since his recent promotion to his present rank, his last period of service having been at Dartmouth Naval College. Another of the new officers is Lieutenant H. N. C. Willmott, who has just completed taking a first-class ship course. The 74 ratings on board are all Englishmen, since the Wellington, like the Leith, is classed as an Imperial ship, and is manned by ratings trained in the Royal Navy. Also included among the Rangitane’s passengers are several officers’ wives. One of them is Airs. J. W. Rivett-Carnac, wife of the commander of the cruiser, Captain J. W. Rivett-Carnac.
