Ken Balchin Cup COBDEN AND MAWHERA WIN. Played at the Recreation Ground on Saturday in ideal conditions, the further series of matches for the Ken Balchin Cup nroduced bright and fast hockey. Both tramas were I fought keenlv with nlav of a higher standard. Cobden had the better of their rame with Pacific and won iv 2 goals to nil. Mawhera who led hv 6 goals to 2 at half-time were luckv to win by 7 goals to five against Te Rama. Nichol, N. Hardie (all Cobden). Forwards: M. Eatwell (Cobden). H de Freatus (Cobden), L. Colfey (Pacific), R. Cullen (Mawhera), and W. Heaton (Pacific). Emergencies: J. Weir (Cobden), L. Chapman (Te Rama). MAWHERA 7, TE RAMA 5. Mawhera secured an early lead of 3 goals and at half-time led 6 to 2. In the second spell they met stiffei opposition from the Te Rama forwards who added 3 goals to Mawhera’s sole score. For the winners H. Perrin (2), J. Wright (2), J. Quinlan, R. Cullen and F.
