NEW WOOL PROCESS
PRE-SHRINKING PROBLEM SOLVED. [Aust. & N.Z. Cable Assn.l (Received August 15, 8.20 p.m.) NEW YORK, August 14. The problem of pre-shrinking wool without impairing its durability, softness, colour and other qualities has been conquered, according to a report from the Science News Service, which is given prominence by the “New York Times.” The report describes an “extremely simple process” evolved by Mr A. J. Hall, an English chemist, by which wool is dipped in a solution containing sulphuryl chloride, it is reported that important firms all over the world are seeking to adopt the process. <
