DEFEAT TASMANIA Ai Women’s Tourney (Aus. and N.Z. Cable Assn.} (Received August 1. at 10.20 p.m.) MELBOURNE, August 1. The New Zealand women hockey P ayers had another substantial win today, when they defeated Tasmania by five goals to one. This win wag of great credit to the Dominion team, as Tasmania has been the premier Australian team for two years. The players omitted from the New Zealand team were Misses Hausen, Mortimer Dahlberg and Donald. At half-time, New Zealand led by five goals to nil. Four of the goal? were scored by Miss McKenzie, the fast right inner. She scored two goa's with beautiful angle shots, after corners had been taken. Miss Drake, vho was injured Ja?t week, played in place of Miss Dahlberg, and she scored remaining goal for New Zealand. The New Zelaand forwards were notably good. New Zea and has now defeated every State except New South Wales. New Zealand is the only team which has won five out of its six matches. The New Zealand team will not be playing again till Saturday, when if will play Austra’ia. Tn the tournament. New Zealand leads with eight points. Tasmania is next with six points. New South Wales to-day defeated Western Australia by four goal? to on«. Victoria defeated Queensland by seven goals to one.
