France and Russia AGREE ON A BASIS. CAus. and N.Z. Cable Assn.) (Received Mav 15. 9.10 p.m.) LONDON, May 15. The 11 Daily Telegraph’s’’ Moscow correspondent says: ‘Mt appears certain that M. Laval (French Foreign Minister),, and M. Stalin have agreed upon the principle of a multi-lat'oral pact of non-aggression. such as Herr Hitler has expressed a willingness to enter. Poland is understood to be willing to join, on the condition that Germany adheres to such a pact, and that Czecho Slovakia is not included. The three Baltic States will also accept if Germany does.” The* correspondent adds: ‘Other subjects discussed included Russia’s pre-war debts to France, the Communist activities, and also the allowing of greater religious freedom in Russia. ’ ’ POLAND’S CONCERN. (Received May 15, at 10.5 p.m.) MOSCOW. May 15. M. Laval and M. Stalin conferred for two hours at the Kremlin. Their discussion was on similar lines to that o r yesterday. It is understood that Colonel Beck (Polish Minister) has conditionally agreed to Poland entering a system of general security pacts, but Poland’s entry hangs on questions concernhig Germany and Lithuania.
