CHRYSANTHEMUMS
ST. JOHN’S DISPLAY. The annual Chrysanthemum Show of the St. John’s Horticultural Society was held in St. John's Hall yesterday afternoon, and <was favoured with a large attendance. There were good entries in th e principal classes, and the blooms were of a high standard. The show was opened by Rev. 11. R. Fell, who thanked the Secretarys (Mrs O. McLean), the organisers. stall-holders and exhibitors for their work in connection with the show. The judges were: Cut, flowers and vegetables, Mr I. Mossop (Runanga); decorative, Mrs J. W. Hannan; knitting, Mrs Fairmaid, sour, and Mrs E. Warncs; cookerv, Mr P. Blanchfield.
The stall-holders were: Cookery Mesdames P. J McLean, J. P. Forbes A. J. McDowall; work, stall. kiesdames C. Rose, W. Kyle. A. Lowe; sweets, Mesdames F. C. Hav and A Paddy; vegetables. Mrs A. Thompson; flowers, Mesdames W. Steer, J. Leitch; tea rooms, Mesdames J. McKenzie, T. Learmont and J. Hambleton.
Special prizes were won as follows: St. John’s Rose Bowl, for most points in the cut flowers section. Mr F. Martini (Hokitika): champion bloom of show. Mrs W. Harrs (Waiuta); domestic section, Mrs O. McLean; decorative section, Mrs G. Kear; vegetable section, Mr G. Wilson. The awards were:— CHRYSANTHEMUMS. Six Japanese, 3 var. (1) —Mrs 11. Fitzgerald (Hokitika) 1. Three Japanese, 3 var.
