CAMBRIDGE, May 9.

Knocked down by a heavy lorry, driven by Roy Bell, on the road outside her home, ait Monovale, yesterday afternoon, Noeline Hannah, 8, was killed instantly. A scheme for the settlement of twenty-five returned soldiers or their sons on the land has been instituted by Mr F. W. Burley, of Hamilton, by the offer of the Waverley Islands estate of 2483 acres in the Eureka district to the Waikato Returned Soldiers’ Association. The offer has been accepted by the Association, and arrangements will be made to further the scheme.

The Waverley Islands property comprises three hills totalling. 600 acres. About 800 acres of the swamp area are ready for occupation. Mr Burley in-

tends to transfer the property free of debt to ’trustees and has laid down conditions that the land must not be used for speculative purposes. Over £12,000 was paid by Mr Burley for the estate.
