The •‘News-Chronicle’’ says: As the result of researches at the Cardiff Mental Hospital. Whitechurch, mental patients are being put asleep for from 10 to 14 days by the injection of narcotics, and are awaking cured. The discovery o f the right narcotic to use and also the correct quantity has resulted from a years’ long experiment the difficulty being ro soothe the brain without poisoning the body. This has been overcome by giving the patients a glucose injection of insulin simultaneously with the narcotic. Dr J H. Quastel. Research Director, says 'that the investigations have revealed that thc body itself produces poisons which disturb nerve cells and may lead to mental disorder.
