DOMINION TOURNAMENT. (Our O'xn Correspondent.) DUNEDIN, August 22. The New Zealand Basketball Association championship Tournament opened in fine weather. Section one.—South Canterbury 20, Southland Minor 9; North Otago 21, Manawatu 16; Waikato 20. Buller 9; South Canterbury 12; Bush 5. Section two. —Wellington Minor 25, West Coast 14; Poverty Bay IS, Marlborough 12; Ashburton 21, Wairarapa 17. NEW ZEALAND TOURNAMENT. DUNEDIN, Aagust 22. The eighth annual basket! all tournament was opened to-day by the Gover-nor-General, who was acconpanied by Lady Bledisloe, nineteen teams competing, of which six are in the major division. Only One major game was played between Auckland (present champions) and Otago, which was won by Auckland by 20 goals to 11. Results of the minor division games were: — South Canterbury 20, Southland minor 9. North Otago 21. Manawatua 16. Waikato 20, Buller 7. South Canterbury 15. Bush 5 Wellington minor 25, West Coast 14. Poverty Bay 18, Marlborough 12. Ashburton 21. Wairarapa 17. Southland minor 22, BuHer 6. Waikato 13, North Otago 9. Marlborough 27, West Coast 4. Poverty Bay 18, Wairarapa 5. Bush 13, Manawatua 12. NEXT TOURNEY. DUNEDIN, August 22. It was decided by th e Dominion Council to-night to hold the 1935 tournament at Wellington. Wanganui’s application was declined.
