Mary’s Al. played during the week, resulted in a win for St. Mary’s by 12 to 8. St. Mary’s Al the winners <d the Saturday A Grade. Competition. This team owes its suc-ess to its keenness; everyone of the play< r< is on the alert from start t«» finish of a game. It is a very creditable performance for this Club to win the Saturday competition for the second year in succession. A pleasing feature has been the verv noticeable improvement to the latest recruits to the Association—Blaketown and Cobden. Both teams have developed combination and contain some promising players. The next local event will be the tournament post|>oned from the King's Birthday, for the Tennent and Gard non Cups. The following table shows the position of the Saturday A Grade teams:—
WESTPORT CLUB’S VISIT. The Aotea Basketball Club, of Westpoir.t, visited Greyniouth during the week-end and wene the guests of the iGrey Alain Old iGiils basketball team. In the friendly match played on Saturday Grey Main Old Gir's won by one goal to nil after a very close and exciting game. The members of the Westport team were: Misses Von O’Donoghue (captain). Alon M<N'mara, Mayseel Murphy. Doroth v Bradley, Aladge Neill. Betty Tracey, Francis Lee, Alolly Kilkenny. Nora McNamara. The Buller representative basketball team left on Saturday for Greyniouth, en route for Dunedin, where they will take part j n the New Zealand championship tournament The party comprised the following: ATisses A.
