WAIKATO BEAT AUSTRALIANS. HAMILTON, August ]S. In a great exhibition of fast, open hockey, Waikato defeated Australia in the opening match of their tour by three goals to two. The teams were evenly matched. Waikato forwards iwere brilliant. Spiers. Roughton and Spiers scored for Waikato. Alien scored two goals for Australia. For the visitors, Cullen Elliott. Leggett and Stenning were outstanding. Sniillie. R ought on and Forster: were the best of the home team.
