FIRE BRIGADE BALL. The Eire brigade Ball held in the Totara Hall. Ross, on Friday last, was an outstanding .sm-uess. The hall and supper room wore tastefully decorated with streamers and hoiily. The Ross Orchestra supplied firnst class music,, ami the duties of NIX', were capabix carried, out by Fireman Richards. The committee arrangements under Captain AtcKay and SecretaTv Peebles were very complete. The Ross Volunteer Fire Brigade was established in 1869. Ross nt present in the happy ]>osition of having a snappy brigade of firemen. They have made some splendid saves in recent years, and, though they have not the fire-fighting appliances of the larger towns, ‘‘the man with the ladder and the hose’’ of Ross can hold his Oiwii, as has been proved when the local bfigadesmen attend the annual Fire Brigade competitions.
