DO BETTER THAN LAND MONOPOLISTS. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, September 16. Tin- Ministry of Agriculture reports that generally, the small holders have so tar weathered the agricultural depression in a remarkable wav and in 1931 they were doing better than were the large farmers. Thc area »f now land acquired during 1931 by County Councils for small holdings was 7827 acres. Th e total area of land held by County Councils in England and AVales for the purpose of small holdings on December 31. was 450,871 acres, and thc n umb(*r of small holding tenants was 217,274.
