Poland Accused OF DESIGNS ON DANTZIG. (Aus. & N.Z. Cable Assn). May 2. There have been sensational report*? as to Poland plotting to seize Dantzig the free port (at the end of the Polish corridor) which is controlled by the League of Nations. The Daily Express Geneva correspondent says: ‘Poland had completed plans for Hu seizure of Dantzig; and but for the j eleventh hour intervention of Franco the Polish fleet would have fttready sailed into Dantzig harbour and thw brought a direct conflict between Germany and Poland

The “Daily Herald” Dantzig correspondent confirms the report, stating that there were preparations for a seizure, eight warships being ready Dgyina Harbour, eight miles distant. He says the raid was called off, owing to urgent warnings from Geneva. The Herald’s "correspondent also expresses the opinion that if a conflict between Germany and Poland were to arise, Russia on the one side and France on the other would not b© able to hold aloof.
