BURIED WORKER
SAVED BY COMRADE’S THOUGHTFULNESS. (Received May 2 at 9 p.m.) MELBOURNE, May 2. The exerus'Q, of presence of mind by a fellow employee, saved the life of a City Council worker, Timothy Kennedy, aged fifty-two. He beneath an avalanche of sand, when the companion, obtaining a long piece of pipe, forced it through the sand. Kennedy then grasped the end of the pip!e, inserted it in his mouth, and obtained air; but he then lapsed into unconsciousness. He recovered when he was rescued.
