WESTPORT NOTES.

(From Our Correspondent.) WESTPORT, ApriL 16. The Westport Branch of t'-e Labour Party met on Sunday evening, after church. There was the usuai faithful few present. The matter of *fhe municipal elections came up. and it was, decided to run no candidates. The School Committe e received different treatment, as Messrs Caldwell, Fowler, Jope and Parfitt were selected to be nominated for seats. The Social Committee are to carry out a card party ana dance on the night of April 30th This is near enough to May Day to make no difference, as the dancers will be going strong when May Day i» ushered in. It was explained that the L.R.C. meeting should have beijn held on Saturday, but it was postponed so that Mr 11. E. Holland, who is now in Wellington, might be present, and give a resume of what, took place at the Easter Conference, where he was a delega e. Pleasure was expressed when it was announced that the Millerton miners had decided to affiliate with the Labour Party. The matter of a Trades Hall was introduced, aijd dis cussion adjourned sine die.
