TO THE RATEPAYERS TO THE RATEPAYERS GREY ELECTRIC POWER BOARD 1 HYDRO-ELECTRIC LOAN READ AND DIGEST THESE FACTS I.—Your district requires much more power for its industries and i cheaper lighting, heating and cooking. 2—Your power possibilities are three, Steam, Purchased Power, your own Arnold Power. 3. Steam Power would be £5,000 to £lO,OOO per year dearer than Arnold Power. 4. Purchased Power would be at least £16,000 per year dearer than Arnold Power. 5. These figures have been substantiated by the Loans Board and the Public Works Department, whose job it is to watch your interests. 6. —The cost of 2500 k.w. from the Arnold is practically the same as for 1000 k.w. from the Steam Station. 7. With the revenue reached this year, nearly £21,000, and with the load in sight, the Arnold Scheme can easily be developed without a rate being collected. B—With Steam, very little improvement can be made in the cost of producing energy, and a Rate is probable if not inevitable. 9.—A Rate must be Levied to secure the Loan, but a Rate is not Collected unless necessary to meet a deficit. ’
