Miss Kerridge left for Wellington on Tuesday morning, where sh e has accepted tl position with a mercantile firm. Mrs Mavhem, who has been an inmate of a private hospital in Christchurch, returned home on Thursday last, much improved in health. Mr W. Hempseed left for Hastings on Tuesday morning where lie has been appointed to the stall of the N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency. Mr R. Armstrong is an inmate of the local hospital suffering from a poisoned hand. Mr Stove McCarthy, well-known footballer and Buller representative, had the misfortune to dislocate his 'shoulder, while following his oceupaI’on at the Blackwater Mines on Tuesday. Preparations are well in hand for the Junior League Ball to be held on Saturday evening in the Miners' HallA -willing band of helpers under the supervision of Mr A. Anisy, are bus) with, the decorations. Dancing commences punctually at 8 p.m. A general meeting of members of the Public Tennis Club, with Mr P. . .Tones (President) presiding was held in the pavilion on Monday evening. Mr John Keenan was elected Secretary in place of Miss Kerridge who has left the district. The President spoke of the many good qualities of the retiring secretary .and referred to the ablo manner in which she had carried out her duties. On behalf of the club members he wished her every success. The balance sheet showed a credit of £l3, which amount is to be devoted to the construeion of :m--oher court. Donations Were received from Dr Wiekeu (Patron) ami Mr B. Franz. A vote of thanks was accorded both gentlemen for their generosity. The 'dry spell still continues, and the outlook is serious, as the battery is short Of water. Present indications are for fine weather. Mrs McDonald (Ngakawau) who has been visiting her parents, Mr and Mrs Dean has returned home.
