CRICKET.

At the weekly meeting of the West Coast Cricket Association, there were present Messrs A. Greenwood (chair), L. F. Casey (Secretary), W. Barlow, T. Ryan, G. A. Revell, A. S. Dunford, J. Harper, B. ami T. Ryan. Hokitika Sub-Association asked information as to affiliation, stating its teams were: Ross, Ruatapu, Rimu, Kanieri and Hokitika. It was resolved to supply the particulars and to seek a match between the West Coast and Hokitika representatives, dates to be arranged. It was decided that the winner of the Hokitika Sub-Association’s competition play United A at a convenient date. The senior and third grade competitions were declared closed, with United A and Marist as the respective winners. A new senior competition will begin this week, the final match to last two days. There will be no third grade matches on Saturday. On January 21 and 28 the Marist team, winners of' the third grade, will play The Rest, Messrs Cullen and King to pick the team to represent The Rest.

The Secretary was directed to reply to a letter from Brunner Club asking under what rule the Association had rescinded its resolution as to awarding the Brunner B-Nelson Creek match, in which an unregistered player (C. Ingram) was played by Nelson Creek. A motion of sympathy with Mr Harper, whose mother died last week, was carried. It was decided to forward a letter to the Ashburton Cricket Association thanking them for the hospitality extended to the West Coast representatives during their stay in Ashburton. VISITING TEAM. On Saturday the West Coast rep team, at the Roc at 2 p.m., will play a match against the Corsair Bay Club, of Christchurch. The Coast team follows: Barlow, Knapp, Fass Dewar (2), J. Thomas, King, Clarke, Warnos, Jamieson, Spender. Emergencies: 1 Eggleton, Hyndman, Rose, Bailey. The visiting team is as follows: C. Oliver, J. Kidd, F. Brisk, F. Fox, G. S. Frost, E. F. Jackson, W. Tucker, C. Edwards, E. Merritt, E. Askew, G. Edwards. W. Merritt, the New Zealand representative cricketer, will accompany the team, if the ferry steamer arrives in to connect with the train.
