DISTANCE FLIERS

GIGANTIC FLYING SHIPS. For Imperial Airways. BOWS LIKE A STEAMER. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.) LONDON, July 7. Remarkable details are available of the Air Ministry’s two gigantic flying ships, which are being completed at Rocheser. The hulls arc all metal riveted sheets, and are such a size that tho men working on them appear dwarfed. The nose is exactly similar to a bow of a medium-sized ship. There are portholes on both sides. Tho construction obviates cross bracing, allowing passengers a wide, comfortable cabin. The ships will be used in the Imperial Airways Service from London to Egypt, Calcutta, and Rangoon. AMERICAN PLANS. For Longer Journeys. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.) NEW YORK, July 7. Aside from Hie ten announced flights from Europe to America, nearly as many other flights from America to Europe and other parts of the world are now scheduled. Two are from New York to Rome, one from New York to London, and one from New York to Europe, destination undecided. A prize of 30,000 dollars, offered to a non-stop flight from Los Angeles to Tokio, already has two entrants. A civilian round-the-globe flight in fifteen days is also contemplated before the end of the summer. LONDON, July 7. The Bishop of Willochra on Sunday next flics from London to Manchester, in order to keep a preaching agreement. He takes a morning service in Kensington, and an afternoon service in Manchester.
