OLD PEOPLE’S HOME

LAYING FOUNDATION STONE. The special committee, consisting of Mis Worship the Mayor (Mr W. H. Parfitt), Mr J. O’Brien, M.P., Mr J. Hannan (Chairman of the Hospital Board), Mr G-. Peroti (President of the Old Boys" Association) and Mr Trouland President of the Returned Soldiers’ Association) appointed to arrange further details in connection .with the laying of the foundation stone of the Old People’s Home on Anzac Day, met last night. Messrs Brislane and Brailsford, members of the Hospital Board, were also in attendance. The stone is to bear the simple inscription that the stone was laid by the Hon. J. G. Anderson, together with the date .of the ceremony and the architect. It was also decided to make it a recommendation to the incoming Hospital Board that a memorial tablet commemorating the work of the Returned Soldiers’ Association and the Old Boys’ Association in raising funds for the building, be placed in the corridor. The members of the Returned Soldiers’ Association arc to take part in the ceremony, after the Anzac Day service in the Opera House. The members will march up to the building, making a short halt at the Cenotaph for the purpose of laying wreaths. Members of the various Friendly Societies are also to take part in the function. The ceremony will take place at 3.30 o’clock.
