(Our Own Correspondent.) A special meeting of the. Blackball Miners’ Union was held on. 'Sunday last when it was unanimously decided to hold the usual May Day sports and demonstration, and a strong committee was appointed to take charge of the arrangements. Providing the epidemic restrictions arc lifted, the postponed children’s picnic ‘will bo held in conjunction, and a grand May Day social and dance will take place in Mcttrick’s Hall on May Day evening. The chief events on the sports programme arc: .100yds handicap, 220yds handicap, 440yds handicap, 120yds hurdle handicap, 440 yds footballers handicap, place kicking of football (League and Soccer), throwing the hammer and discus, etc., and the -usual baby show. Events are confined to members of industrial or trade unions. The Blackball silver Band will be in attendance, and a speaker has been secured for the occasion. Provided the weather is on good behaviour, a successful function i; assured. Mr Tom Moore lias donated a picture show to the sports fund, the date fixed being April 24th. Boa.
