The “New York Times’s” Washing ton correspondent states: Officials of the Harding Administration expressed satisfaction over the Lausanne, settlement, especially regarding as an Ame rican diplomatic victory the non-in-elusion of Turkish petroleum companes’ claims in the treaty. The United States is prepared to proceed separately in negotiations with Britain concerning the companies’ claims to a monopoly of oil fields in Mesopotamia. It is understood that Mr Hughes feels gratified at the fact that the Treaty will assure an open door in Mesopotamia, and prepare the defeat of any attempt to exclude Americans participating in the development of those oil fields.
