BRITISH LABOUR.
VIEWS OF POLITICIANS. | A. and N.Z. Cable Association.] LONDON, J’.ne 29. At the British Labour Part- Conference at Glasgow, a resolution declaring against Labour members being Privy Councillors was defeated heavily. Mr Arthur Henderson sail that he hoped a Privy Councillorship would be the only honour a Labour man ever accepted, as it was the only pure honour given to people. Mr Henderson complained about the way th* 1 resolution had been introduced, and asked if it was a sj‘le issue to raise the question of Republicanism. Mr J. Thomas advised the people who wanted to make a clear issue that Labour stood for a Republic to take a chance at the ballot box. “I am certain,’’ he said, “you would be met by a verdict that these people are weakening the Labour movements.” The conference decided against an alliance or electoral arrangement with any section of the Libeial or Conservative Party. Mr Williams (Transport) in moving the resolution said that it would be a lamentable error if the Labour Party again associated with Mr Lloyd George.
