SEARCHING THE GUTTER.
A ROYAL DIAMOND HUNT. LONDON, May 28. Theatre-goers at the Covent Garden ypstereve witnessed a unique spectacle of the Queen, Princess Alice, the Duke of York, and Lord Chamberlain, and members of the Royal suite minutely searching the footpath and gutter, and the interior of a car for diamonds, believed to be missed from the Queen’s necklace, which, the moment before had snapped. Oblivious of the onlookers, the Royalties continued to search lor several minutes, then the Queen gave it up and went inside, the others following. Shortly afterwards the Queen counted the diamonds and found them intact.
