BIRCH'S INJURIES

Mr Brown: haying added that Birch was being taken to the City Hotel, a number of sympathisers ..miade.^br there,; and a five minutes to six ]the car was pulled up at the door o-i the hotel. Birch was Covered up with rugs and wrappers" at <■ the; back of the car, and a :few wiling helpers carried him into tihe hotel, where he .was seen soon, afterwards by Dr Stanley Batcheloi> who found him to be suffering from, slight- concussion.. An hour afterwards he had partly recovered consciousness., , and he was expected to Ec all * right once he .came .properly round. Ho is cut on the head' and on {Hie legs. His brother was attending to him, washing and dressing the wouno*.
