ANOTHER ACCOUNT

' The representative of tne League of Wheelmen, who was following in, the motor car/ gave his version of tihe acr cident as follows:— -"Birch was coasting down .. the hill. A c d6g ran out, did not interfere with him. Birch., however, was taking ' nt> chances, and in order to geti clear jj\verve4.and ran, into" some river rubble. He tried to turn, with, the result that his front wheel collapsed, and he , fell on his head. He was going about 30 miles air -hour • : at the -time. There is not the slightest? doubt but for this unfortunate accident he must- have lowered the record. We lifted him into the motor-car*- and brought • him to' town slowly.
