The coal export for the week ending June 11 was 11,251 tons 19 cwb and was shipped as follows : — Westporfc Coal Cojr 10,134 tons 4 cwt, Cardiff Coy 1,117 Jons 15 cwt. Wellington, June 17. The funeral of the late Mr Brown, chief officer of the Hinemoa, whose remains were brought down in the Takapuna, took place at noon. Carter, an employee in the public Works at Mangaweka, while warming 12 lba of dyuamite ie his hut this morning, it exploded, killing Carter and destroying the hut and knocking down and breaking th wrist of a child two chains away. The widower .has a grown up family. ' Invercargill, June 17. A fire thia morning destroyed the back premises of Metzger's hotel at Orepuke. ( A large quautity of stock and furniture ] stored during the building of the new j premises was destroyed, also five valuable horses. There is no insurance.
