In answer to a question th< chairman said that he estimated the los to the miners through the strike amenntec to L 20,000. A proposal was made at th< meeting that it be an instruction to th board not to undertake any work for thi opening up of Granlty Creek mine withou the sanction of a special general meeting of the Co, unless It should be found ab solutely necessary to do some work it order to prevent the forfeiture of the lease The motion was subsequently withdrawi by the mover (James Smith), Baying tha he was informed by the chairman that ii the opinion of the board it was necessary to do something in order to avert ai attempt to forfeit the lease. .
