A Spartan aeroplane owned by New Zealand Aiiways was wrecked on a farm at Stave]y this afternoon but tlie pilot, John Kilian, was uninjured. Colin L. Austin, gaed 26, owner of the farm, vho was a passenger in the aeroplane, suffered a scalp wound. The machine was totally wrecked and was taken in a lorry to Springburn and from there it will be sent by rail to Timaru. The pilot took off twice without a. passenger to test the field. There was a gusty north-wester.
