TALKIE TESTS COAIAIENCE TO-DAY Crowded houses 'should greet the opening of the talkie tests at the Opera House to-day. The first section of the tests recently made in Gisborne will consist of 28 local aspirants. Reports received indicate that the quality of the tests is very satisfactory so •that a. good idea of the screen possibilities of the candidates may be fo* rmed. The audience will bo asked to vote for ten out of the 28, four men, four women, one boy, and one girl. The reason for the voting is to receive an indication of. “audience ap peal.” Ten from each of three sections are to be selected. The resulting 30 candidates become the semi-final-ists, from which toil will be selected by votes and will be cast in a. picture to be made locally. Tn this picture they have the opportunity of gaining a contract from Television Film Corporation, Ltd., to appear in its New Zealand produoioiis. A further award to result from the Voting is that the ‘star of stars’’ or wining man or woman, will be presented with the wan’drobe necessary for the picture to be made in Gisborne. Patrons. arc reminded to bring a pencil with them so that they can mark the voting cards as the numbers appear on the screen.
