“A TALE OF TWO CITIES." Courago, gallantry and romance are to be found in Charles Dickens’ story “A Tale of Two Cities,’’ the screen version of which opens at the Regent Theatre to-day. The story is set in Paris and London, the “two e'-tios,” in the days of the French Involution, and there is> a considerable amoun; of interesting history * in the film. Scenes such as the taking oi tin; Pastille, of the slaughter at the guillotine, and of the mock trials which were carried out every day arc presented. The story of; “A Talc or Two Cities” is known,to numerous readers. It. tells Of the joys and sorrows, the adventures and the trials oi a little group of people, English and French, who arc caught in the maelstrom of the French .Revolution ol 1789. Specifically, it tells of ' the strange love of Carton and Lucie Manctto—a love that was doomed to frustration. With the star is a eastof U2 stars and featured players. As Sydney Carton, the drink-sodden young lawyer, who sacrifices his lire on the guillotine for love of Lucie Pianette, 'Ronald Column gives a
masterly performance. As Luc.e Mnnette, Elizabeth Allan is splendidly cast. Others of note in the cast are 11. B. Warner, Edna May Oliver, Basil Ibathbone, Reginald Owen, Blanch Yurka, Henry B. Walthall, Walter Catlc-tt, Fritz Lei her, Donald Woods, and Claude Gillmgwatcr.
Sir Miichison Fletcher (above!, retiring Governor of the Fiji Islands, is en route across Canada to England, where , he" will spend furlough before taking over his new duties as Governor of Trinidad. “The Fiji Islands are flourisaing,” said Sir Murchison. “The discs; very of gold has helped prosperity there a great deal. Australia is taking all. the Fiji gold if can get.”
