SERVICE TO SOCIETY
AID FOR CRIPPLED CHILDREN. CHANCE FOR. THE HIGH SCHOOLS. SPECIAL CLASSES SUGGESTED* BOARD FAVORS PROPOSAL. A suggestion that the Gisborne High School may provide valuable assistance in the direction of vocational education for crippled children was made by the Rector, Air J. Hutton, to the monthly meeting of the board yesterday. In the course of his usual report, ■ Air. Hutton commented as follows: ' MAs our new buildings and technical equipment become available. ;this school should be in a. position to help the newly formed Crippled Children’s. Society,- by providing classes suitable to tho special needs, of those Buffering' from physical disability, who could quite well profit by some form of vocational education. Even where this is "not required we could assist some to form abiding interests in life in and through hobby pursuits. It will be quite possible ' under the regulations to establish classes apait altogether from the High School classes',’ for such crippled children as maybe offering,' at hours convenient tp 'them. Thus the school may quite well-render m- service'to society without its own interests buffering in any )t ■-A “- . *ft i'f if.. way.” “That is an excellent proposal, remarked the chairman (Air. L. T.’ Burnard)'. ' ‘ ' . - Other members concurred in this view and it was decided-to go further into the proposal-wlieri the facilities become available. , L-l
