Oyyright) (Received April 10, 7.30 p.m.) ( LONDON, April 9. The Times Rome correspondent says that a steady trickle of men, material and munitions continues from, the Italian ports to East Africa.
The Daily Mail’s correspondent at Massowa (the chief port of Eritrea) says that there are at present 100,030 tons of shipping in the harbour. Every street is choked with sinews of -mar, from casks of chianti to cases of cordite, with thousands of yards of barbed wire. All are being hurried off to Asmara, the capital, eighty miles away, as soon as possible. It is reported that 20,000 Italians, much heavy artillery, 200 aeroplanes and 40,000 native troops are massed on the Abyssinian frontier, while larger forces are assembling in Italian Somaliland. Meanwhile, Abyssinia is buying guns and material from Japan.
