monthly meeting
Tim monthly meeting of the Gisborne High School Loa?d was held yesterday, Mr L. T. Barnard presiding over the f°i owing: Messrs R. E. Bright, T. Todd, F. IV. Nolan, J. 11. Sunderland and J. Hutton (Rector) . Intimation of his pending resignation from the board, owing to pressure of other business, was received from Mr G. Crawshaw and it was decided to forward him a letter expressing appreciation of his services and adding the hope that, at some future time, he would again he available ns a member of the board. The Rector’s report included the following paragraphs :• — “Extra classes for High Schor/, pupils in drawing find art- under the tuition of Mr E. Gully, have been established on Monday and Friday afternoons. These have proved popu' lar, over 60 pupils availing theiuscf.ves to the opportunity * to make some acquaintance with art work through the medium of' pastel work. “Three new evening classes have been established, one in wood work theory under the instruction of Mr P. A. Clark, manual training instructor ; one in motor engineering, under the instruction of Mr A. Elliot. foreman of Redstone’s Motors, who has had previous experience as instructor of technical c, lasses in Brisbane; and a nurses’ class in invalid cookery under Miss O. M. Cook, manual training instructress of this centre. “All evening classes were visited early this week by Mr F. C. Renyrdjl inspector of techirc-ai classes.” t|f The report was adopted.
