A Singapore P.A'.' cablp states that Mr. A. E. Hopejoy, an English inspector of the Singapore police, was shot and killed by a Chinese in « pawnshop yesterday, while investigating a robbery.
The ex-Kaiser’s daughter, the Duchess of Brunswick and the Duke luncheoned with Their Majesties at Buckingham Palace. The Daily Mad states that this is the first time of tlse ex-Kaiser’s children have vis- : ited the Palace since before the war. -ThA.
Some 70 representatives of local bodies cf the No 0 Highways District assembled at Taumaranui on Thursday night to farewell Mr. G. W. Albertson, district public Works engineer and chairman of No C High>v;.vs District Council, who "was recently appointed engineer to . the Main Highways Board, Wellington. The Mayor, Mr. TL A.
