GISBORNE CLUB (By Black Knight) Since last report ~of members’ match games at tho Gisborne Chess Club, Sod don bag beaten Ritchie and Duncan twice each in the handicap tournament; Meredith haß scored two games each against Lawn and Robinson; Weatherly defeated Meredith twice; Yenning and Gleave also met, but their play .was so .equal hat both games were drawn. Each therefore scored one point. In tho championship tournament, Seddon won against Weatherly; Venning defeated Thompson; [whilst Ritchie scored against Scblichting. Tho second round should) he played next Saturday for which Seddon *s drawn to play Schlichting; Ritchie against Thompson, and Weatherly contests (with Venning. In the Waikanae Stakes, Gleave beat McMahon and Harris scored a win over Robinson. Two> players were unavoidably absent and are reentered for the second round [which should be played to-morrow and is as follows: Gleave and Fischbach; Duncan; and Whitehead; Lanvn and 1 Meredith; giving Harris a. bye in the A group, whilst "McMahon plays Robinson, in the B division, and the one wiho loses his second “life’’ will bo eliminated, leaving four players in each section, ■ thus obviating ! the necessity for further .byes.
