The weekly wool letter in the Sydney Morning Herald says competition was more widespread, and any change in values was upward. Bidding was more sustained and display ed an improvement of par to 5 per cent. The selections contained a few faulty lines. A better inquiry from France wastho most encouraging feature. Her purcbases in the Commonwealth last season totalled 435,000 bales. Tlio week’s offerings totalled 5U,475 bales, of which 91 per cent, was sold at auction. The following figures show the quality of wool sold in the Commonwealth, and the amount realised lor the period from July 1 to September 30 in the past three seasons: —
1931, 262,171 bales, £2,545,812. 1932, 370,260 bales, £4,455.298 1933, 395,691 bales, £7,193,319.
The figures disclose that although the number, of" bales this season was slightly greater, the actual realisations, compared with last season, were considerably higher.
