TARIFF TRUCE
OBJECTS EXPAINED. fllrilisli Official WireWs.j RUGBY, May 16. In the House of Commons, referring to the proposed tariff truce, Mr Neville Chamberlan said the object was to discourage starting new upward initiatives, and was not intended to prevent the completion of operations already begun. The Import Duties Advisory Committee would continue to perform its statutory obligations, including the receipt and examination of applications for alterations of duties hub'the Government,. during the truce, would refrain'from increasing customs duties in respect to applications not received before May 12. - Ho mentioned that the application regarding silk duties was made before that date.
