New: York girls who had failed to claim a husband last Leap Year were in December planning a ‘‘wedding ring parade’-’ in a final effrt to become brides before the hells rang out the old year. A committee of 13 was formed. Under police escort the parade was to march down Broadway carrying ban ners in'seriber, “We are willing, to marry 1 ’ and “Spinsters with young ideas.” ■. , Miss -Rose Hess, aged 26,' was chairman of the committee. She remarked: “We are in earnest. Surely there are eligible bachelors' in this great city, who are looking, for the blue bird, of happiness.”. ‘ • ‘ ■ The girl's’.specifications for “.Dream Men’> are : ; “Men of the world, aged 35, tali; strong-featured, real workers* who will, settle down and make a-com-fortable home for tivci.” Two of: the girls in the parade, list tlxeir, qualities aS;follbws Miss .
