PRIZES FOR CHILDREN
A suggestion that the white hi torfiy. competition arranged for tie forthcoming Autumn Show on Marm 1G be done away with was greeted with strong opposition at, a. recent meeting of the Hawke’s Bay A. and P Rociotv, when, by a ' big majority, if was decided that everything should be done to encourage the children to take-part in the collection of the bufterfllgs. Mr A. ]\l. Robertson thought that if the work of the Besearch Station was not being suce'csslul in combating the pest, ihen the ofloils of the children wore of no a rail and bp' suggested that the competition for the show be deleted. The chairman (Mr. J. H. Macuivcn) : Olg I think they do some good. MivC. J. White: The kiddies collected over 12,000 for the Hastings Carnival and if they had beem at large there' would have' ■been hundreds of thousands more butterflies now.
