BACK TO CORSETS!
FASHIONS TREND FOB AYOAIEN
London fashions have taken a. new and significant turn. They are going back to the Edwardian lines, writes Victoria Chappelle in the Daily Alail.
I have seen some of the new collection of spring clothes which Peggy Morris, the London designer, has created for a famous Now York firm. They are, of course, six months in advance of present fashions, aig; the new tendency is very plain.
Tlie show that the fitted waist is definitely returning, and more than suggest. . that before long [women will mako corsetting a universal habit again.
In fact, most of the .skirt-s are actually corsottcd; they have a form, of boneles's, but shaped and stiffened, corset built inside the high waist.
This Hot only accentuates the natural waist-line, but hugs the ribs tightly, for it is sometimes CM inches ill depth, stopping just below the bust. , The little fitting jackets shown with some suits in the collection were a distinct revival, Especially one with lapels sticking stiffly out—a suggestion of the elaborate jabots worn in Edwardian days. Evccn now the. “now” sagger coats, hanging loose from the shoulders, were similar to the motoring wraps worn by women in the early years or the century.
