Damage estimated at £2OOO was caused bv a fire that partly gutted premises in Central Colombo street, occupied by Drayton and Co., and other firms, in the. early morning. The blaze spread rapidly, and at one stage the whole block was threatened, but the brigade, with vigorous .efforts, made a good save. , .
